Current Sensors Has The Answer To Everything
Current sensors are also commonly known as current transformers. These devices are designed to measure the current passing through a wire by utilizing a magnetic field to sense the current and generate a proportional output. They are used with both Alternating and Direct current. Current sensors allow you to measure current passively without interference in the circuit. They are positioned around the conductor, the current that needs to be measured.
Current transformers or sensors effectively convert the current from a higher to lower current so that the power can be used for measuring and controlling purposes. Enrgtech offers an extensive range of high-quality current sensors to suit your applications.
Types of Current Sensors
Rogowski Coils
Rogowski coils are flexible current transformers that offer a range of advantages for practical applications. They are easier to install than the traditional transformers. They have a thin coil that is easy to place around the conductor and snap. This makes them preferable for use in situations where installation is complicated, and you are working with live wires.
Split-Core
Split-core sensors are easier to install because they can be placed around the conductor and snapped into place in pre-existing configurations. They are less accurate than solid core current sensors and are still accurate enough to be used for all practical applications.
Solid-Core
These types of sensors are in the form of a complete loop with no possibility of opening. Therefore, the cables must be disconnected and placed through the current transformer during installation. Solid-core sensors are highly accurate and preferable for new installations.
Open-Loop
Hall effect sensors come in either open or closed loops. Open-loop sensors give you low insertion loss, compact sizes, fast response time, and accurate, low-cost sensing.
Closed-Loop
Closed-loop sensors help provide high linearity, fast response, and low-temperature drift. The current output of the closed-loop sensor is protected from electrical noise. The closed-loop sensor is also known as the zero-flux sensor because its hall effect sensors feed an opposing current into a secondary coil. It is wound on a magnetic core to effectively negate the flux produced in the magnetic core with the help of the primary current.
Applications of Current Sensors
Current sensors are used in various applications, including facility management, sub-metering, and many more. They help to prevent any defects in the machinery and prevent damage to equipment. In sub-metering, they are often used to determine the energy usage of different tenants. In facility management, they can help determine how much energy is being used, which helps to lower costs and increase efficiency.
